B is for Birchbox...July!

My July Birchbox arrived.  I will say after last months- it is kind of a let down!   This months box was curated by Cynthia Rowley  and had a cute new "outfit to prove it.

I got 5 items.... here they are!



1.  AHAVA Mineral Hand Cream (.58 ounces)  Full size lotion (3.4 oz) sells for $20.  Value of Birchbox sample  $3.41.

2.  Philosopy Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser (1 oz)  Full sized product  (8 0z) sells for $20.  Value of Birchbox sample  $2.50.

3.  Redken Shine Flash Spray (2.1 oz)  Full sized spray (4.4 oz) sells  for $17.  Value of Birchbox sample $8.12.

4.  Zoya Nail Polish (.25 oz)  Full sized polish (.5 oz) sells for $8.   Value of Birchbox sample $4.00.

5.  Extra Kind Almond & Apricot Bar (aka biggest disappointment in the box) (1.4 oz bar).  12 bars sell at Amazon for $16.24.  Value of Birchbox Bar $1.35.

Total Value is $19.38.  Yes, it is still worth the $10 subscription- but hoping August will be more like June! :)  The highlight... Purity in a Bottle... I own it and use it every morning, so it will be nice to have a sample size for travel refills. The lowpoint..... the "granola bar".  Seriously?

My friend SH (also a Birch Box subscriber) got all the same items as me but got a skin oil.  I am still REALLY REALLY curious about how they pick what products go to what person and how many different options there are.  Hmmm.....

P is for Project!

So, since the wee one arrived, we have not had a real house project.  The husband loves a project and has been hankering for something new to work on!  Well, he now has one.  We have a strange room in our basement that is "finished" it has a fireplace and everything.  I will share more on the "update" of the room.   At one point, the husband had made some "improvements" in hopes at one point of having a "kick ass" man town.  But, he never really used the space.  My philosophy is use it or lose it! So, we have a three bedroom house, once Avery arrived we lost a guest room.   At Christmas we had more guests than beds.  So, we have decided to convert the basement room into a playroom/guest room.  Now, Avery will not use it as a playroom for quite a while, but I like to plan ahead!  It will be great to have some additional guest space.  So, in order for it to function as guest space and "hang out" or play space- we need sitting and...

I is for Inspiration...

I love this feature wall.  Usually I am not into feature walls, but in this case... LOVE IT!  I stumbled across this photo in Better Homes and Gardens magazine.  I could not find this photo on their website so sorry for my bad photo taken of the magazine page. As you know, I did a Board and Batten project in my master bedroom.  I have gotten lots of compliments on it!  I like a project that adds character to a house!  I have also admired exposed board walls like the one Miss Mustard Seed created.  Unfortunately, the exposed board look does not really go with the style of our house which has a lot of molding, wainscotting, etc.   I think it is a little too casual for our home.  If we had a cape or bungalow it would be great, but our Royal Barry Wills colonial calls for something else.
