D.H.... Dream House... wish list!

So, I mentioned a few months ago that we went to look at a fixer upper.  Thank god it was a disaster.... I need a fixer upper like I need a hole in the head!   I really have no intention of moving as  I love my house. But, every once in a while the husband and I will think "what if".  I would only move if I could make my dream house (gut or build).  You know... the house that has EVERYTHING you want just as you want it!

A smart woman recently told me don't build or fix up a house until your have a VERY long list.  My list is extensive, but is if very long?

What is on my list?  A must have would be his and hers walk-in closets.  Big closets with the perfect organizational system.... with a place for everything!  Why do I want his and her closets?  I don't like sharing.  But, more importantly, I could pick up all the stuff the husband leaves on the floor.... open up his closet throw it in and close the door!

Hmmm..... a girl can dream!

P is for Project!

So, since the wee one arrived, we have not had a real house project.  The husband loves a project and has been hankering for something new to work on!  Well, he now has one.  We have a strange room in our basement that is "finished" it has a fireplace and everything.  I will share more on the "update" of the room.   At one point, the husband had made some "improvements" in hopes at one point of having a "kick ass" man town.  But, he never really used the space.  My philosophy is use it or lose it! So, we have a three bedroom house, once Avery arrived we lost a guest room.   At Christmas we had more guests than beds.  So, we have decided to convert the basement room into a playroom/guest room.  Now, Avery will not use it as a playroom for quite a while, but I like to plan ahead!  It will be great to have some additional guest space.  So, in order for it to function as guest space and "hang out" or play space- we need sitting and...

I is for Inspiration...

I love this feature wall.  Usually I am not into feature walls, but in this case... LOVE IT!  I stumbled across this photo in Better Homes and Gardens magazine.  I could not find this photo on their website so sorry for my bad photo taken of the magazine page. As you know, I did a Board and Batten project in my master bedroom.  I have gotten lots of compliments on it!  I like a project that adds character to a house!  I have also admired exposed board walls like the one Miss Mustard Seed created.  Unfortunately, the exposed board look does not really go with the style of our house which has a lot of molding, wainscotting, etc.   I think it is a little too casual for our home.  If we had a cape or bungalow it would be great, but our Royal Barry Wills colonial calls for something else.
